3. Discuss XML Global's ebXML Proposal (10 minutes)
NOTES:
Attached is a draft of a XML.org Business/Project Plan. Please review and
be prepared to openly discuss your answers to the questions. From this
exercise I expect to be able to prepare a Business and Project Plan that
represents the requests and ideas of the Advisory Committee and send it
along to the OASIS Board of Directors for approval.
ECademy Partnership. www.ecademy.com. I was approached by eCademy to
provide some kind of London representation. Ecademy is repositioning
themselves as a Web Services Network and they wish to promote XML Web
Services to their members (12,500) and they want to work with XML.org to
build awareness. Ideas. eCademy could become an XML.org London Content
Partner. For a fee we could license content, logo, and/or domain name (ie
London.xml.org or webservices.xml.org ) under a separate section of XML.org
and conversely as a separate section of eCademey. We would have to
carefully work thru content control, editorial and IP issues. For a
financial arrangement, I was thinking of a $100,000 minimum annual fee based
on a 70% them and 30% us sponsorship revenue split. ECademy would be
responsible for selling and marketing sponsorship of this section,
maintaining the content, providing the hosting, etc. under guidelines agreed
upon. A partnership like this would help us build out web service content,
expand in Europe, increase site traffic, showcase web service adoptions,
support our collaboration initiatives and generate good revenue.
XML Global. We received the following sponsorship proposal from Duane
Nickull at XML Global:
1. A full copy of our GoXML Registry. This is an ebXML compliant registry
that can be used by OASIS on as many sites as possible.\
2. A copy of our ebXML Messaging Software
3. Some consulting to aide in setting up #1, 2 above.
The details will need to be worked out but I am sure that we can deliver our
Registry working on a Sun iPlanet server. This would give OASIS the ability
to launch an ebXML Registry. This will definitely jump start adoption of
ebXML by providing a focal point for vocabulary and business process
efforts.
