We could also switch to a less demanding polling question, something
like
1. What proportion of your deliverables currently have transitional
text?
- 100%
- 90%
- 80%
- 50% or more
- less than 50%
Or
2. What proportion of your new and updated deliverables require
transitional text?
Or
3. In the next year, how much will you reduce your use of transitional
text?
- 50% or more
- 20% or so
- Limited change
- Not convinced it's a good idea

I think the link at the end of the article is fine. Should help direct
people to the polling question.

If we really want to move the poll up higher on the page, we have to a)
remove or reduce the size of the "Learn more" box, and/or b) move the
blog headlines further down the page.
We created that "Learn more" box to drive people to the Knowledgebase,
which seems to be working because it gets a lot of page views. I
hesitate to move the blogs down because that also seems to be a favorite
feature of the site, and people like to see what's been posted.
As I mentioned in my previous message, we added a link to the poll from
JoAnn's article and also in the <soapbox> and in the Forum topic.
Hopefully, that will encourage participation. IMHO, the poll is nice,
but it's not like conducting survey research is a main objection for us,
is it?

Also, the poll isn't obvious at all. Too far down on the page.

The Transitional Text poll and forum (http://dita.xml.org/forum/85) are
both up. Please review and let me know if they look okay. I seeded the
Forum with a first post, but JoAnn, you might want to replace/edit that
with your own message as forum "host".
Seth should be adding the soapbox to the homepage today. When that's up,
JoAnn, can you post a message to dita-users and encourage people to
visit the site?
