RE: [dita-fa-edboard] RE: DITA Knowledge Base reorg suggestions

Thoughts about the Introduction page ...
Alternative 1: The Getting Started info could stay on the Introduction
page after a quick intro to the area with bullet points. It's ok that
the bullets would be repeated at the bottom of the page. If that
approach is taken, the beginning of the page could be similar to
http://dita.xml.org/wiki-specializations
Alternative 2: Yes, it would also be viable to keep Getting Started as a
separate page and use the model of http://dita.xml.org/architecture on
the Introduction page.
Best wishes,
Bruce

I think this is done. Please check and let me know if it looks okay.
Note: On the new http://dita.xml.org/introduction, I don't like how you
have to scroll down to the bottom to see the sub links. Maybe we should
keep "Getting Started" as its own page, and just have the Introductions
page be one sentence followed by a list of the sub-links (similar to
what we do at http://dita.xml.org/architecture).
Note also: http://dita.xml.org/production-publishing is still pretty
bare. Do we want to keep this page in the KB? We can always remove it
from the nav and add it back in later.

What JoAnn, Scott, Bruce and I discussed as you were joining today:
Original:
* DITA 101
* Production / publishing
* Milestones
* FAQ / fact sheet
* Why DITA?
* Getting started
* Open source toolkit
* Topic-based authoring
* Architecture
* Specification
This is the main modification, with my own suggested new order on the
rest--should be vetted by the group. The 4 child sections would no
longer
appear on the KB front page--they would be child links on the
Introduction
page.
* Introduction to DITA (Was Getting started)
- Milestones
- Why DITA?
- DITA 101
- FAQ / fact sheet
* Topic-based authoring
* Architecture
* Production / publishing
* Open source toolkit
* OASIS DITA Technical Committee (new)
* Specification
