| Is there a reason you need to write your own parser? There are at
| least five publicly available (James Clark, Microstar, DataChannel,
| Tim Bray, Microsoft).
My count has now passed 17, and another 2-3 packages with parsing
abilities. SAX[1] is heartily recommended. :-)
