   Attribute question

I'm getting ready to release the next version of
my freeware class library (which includes some
XML capability) and have reached a stumbling
block.

What does ^ mean (in rule [10])?

Is this a valid attribute:

<EATERY Name='Sam^'s Bagel-O-Rama'/>

Should the value of the "Name" attribute be
"Sam's Bagel-O-Rama"?

TIA,

Sam Blackburn
