Yes, though none of this would preclude adding explicit version enquiry
methods to the SAX interface.
Consider this as a proposal for how the Java version might be packaged. Java
parsers could safely use java.lang.Package.isCompatibleWith() as they
_know_ that they are written in Java and are talking to a Java package.
