Entirely correct; however, there is no XML content matched by
(#PCDATA | s+)*
that is not also matched by
(#PCDATA | s)*
More generally,
(a+)* = (a*)+ = (a*)* = (a?)+ = (a?)* = (a)*
XML forces you to reduce mixed content models to the simplest
representation.
