XSchema: New draft of John Cowan's proposal

[ Lists Home | Date Index | Thread Index ]
  • From: John Cowan <cowan@locke.ccil.org>
  • To: XML Dev <xml-dev@ic.ac.uk>
  • Date: Wed, 03 Jun 1998 14:23:51 -0400

The new URL is at http://www.ccil.org/~cowan/XSchema-draft-19980603.html .
Note that the DTD and meta-XSchema are now in separate resources,
and the main body is HTML (or actually XHTML; my apologies to anyone
who doesn't like </HR> tags).

Changes include adopting the ID/IDREF model, renaming NAME to REF,
splitting off ENUM from VALUE (for use in ENUMTYPE elements), using
an attribute for *, ?, and + rather than elements, forbidding SEQ
within SEQ and CHOICE within CHOICE, getting NOTATION attributes
represented.

Still to be dealt with: namespaces, embedded doco in XSchemas,
how to declare an XSchema.

In addition, the meta-XSchema has been validated by nsgmls 1.3.
