Jeffrey E. Sussna asked "Has any further work taken place on XML Data? (How)
does it relate to XSchema?"

The Microsoft IE5 Technology Preview ships with an XML parser that supports
the majority of the facilities described in the XML-Data proposal
(http://www.w3.org/TR/1998/NOTE-XML-data-0105/). Key features it includes
are (a) uses XML instance syntax, (b) datatypes, (c) open content model, (d)
order-independent content model, (e) namespaces, (f) validation. Key
features it omits are aliases, type extension and direct support of general
foreign keys.

See http://www.microsoft.com/sitebuilder/ for details.

Regarding how XML-Data relates to XSchema, I have not worked actively with
XML schemas for about six months, so don't have the knowledge to answer that
question.

Best regards,

Andrew Layman
