Yes, this is especially useful for building a DOM as well. I've added
it to the list of core features:
http://xml.org/sax/features/validation
http://xml.org/sax/features/external-general-entities
http://xml.org/sax/features/external-parameter-entities
http://xml.org/sax/features/namespaces
http://xml.org/sax/features/unbuffered-input
http://xml.org/sax/features/normalize-text
Remember that parser will not be required to support any of these.
