There are times when I wonder whether I get a different version of this
list than do other readers. In the past few weeks I've heard:

1) Excellent technical arguments for and against the inclusion of three
namespaces in XHTML

2) Detailed exploration of the relationships between namespaces and XML
1.0, and different possibilities therein, not to mention similar issues in
updating XML 1.0 to deal with Unicode 3.0

3) Better explanation of the grove concept than I've heard previously in my
three years working with XML

4) Intelligent discussion of different possibilities for development models
and processes building on XML.

5) Examination of the boundaries between scripting and data

I'm sure there's a lot more I could come up with, if I took the time to go
back and read more of the messages. While this does involve an overflowing
mailbox, it also represents an impressive gathering of minds that can
examine difficult issues in depth, present different solutions, and still
maintain some level of coherence.

But heck, maybe I'm just an obstructionist!
