Did you confirm that experimentally? I suspect you are not correct. It's
easy enough to test. Just gzip (LZ compression) the two files and compare
byte counts. My bet is that the bulk of your 50% savings will disappear.
(Go read up on LZ if it isn't immediately obvious to you why this is the
case.)
