   Markup translations

MS IE5 XMLDOM automatically translates < to &lt; > to &gt; and & to
&amp;
in XML file if they are is in field data.

Is there a list of all the chars that are translated automatically?
We want to be able to convert them on the recving end.

BTW, Anyone using Oracle java XML parser know if it will automatically
do the conversion back?
