Apple tried that with FireWire and IEEE 1394 process has suffered mightily.
Unless I buy a Mac, I don't ever expect to see FireWire/1394 in any real use.
It could've been a contender...
Imagine if we were trying to sell XML with a licensing fee! That'd be fun,
even if it were possible.
