<< Instead of inventing new xlink attributes, e.g. this had been suggested:
<< isA | hasA | equiv | isLike | partOf
<< RDF allows to link two resources WITH ANY DOMAIN-DEFINED SEMANTICS.
This morning I fund a fact sheet about the Unified Medical Language System
(UMLS) semantic network:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/factsheets/umlssemn.html
It would be an interesting test case for any proposed solution for conveying
domain-defined semantics.
"The Semantic Network, through its 132 semantic types, provides a consistent
categorization of all concepts represented in the UMLS Metathesaurus®. The
53 links between the semantic types provide the structure for the Network
and represent important relationships in the biomedical domain. All
information about specific concepts is found in the Metathesaurus; the
Network provides information about the basic semantic types that are
assigned to these concepts, and it defines the relationships that may hold
between the semantic types. "
