[I posted this message but it bounced, I think because it included the word
u*n*s*u*b*s*c*r*i*b*e - without the stars!. If it has reached the list,
please ignore.]

Many thanks to OASIS for the hypermail archive and the link to it from the
signature.

Long-standing members of this list will remember we debated for some time
about how long the signature should be and the present one conforms to
those discussions. The benefit is that subscribers can read the threaded
discussion over the WWW and also know how to u*n*s*u*b*s*c*r*i*b*e.

The (acceptable) price is 5 lines of info + 1 blank. *** However, the
signature should NOT be quoted from previous messages. I have already read
one which has three quoted signatures. Please erase *all* quoted signatures
(and usually much of the quoted message as well). Some people, especially
in less affluent countries, have to pay by volume of messages.

Part of the fun of XML is normalising information (i.e. not repeating it
unnecessarily). Try to keep quoted messages as short as possible. It gives
a real feeling of accomplishment and a warm glow inside!

	P.
