I have just released the first production version of MinML my implementation
of a minimal XML parser for embedded Java systems.
MinML started life as an implementation of Don Park's Minimal XML spec but
now accepts a far larger subset of the language (it accepts and ignores DTDs
and doesn't allow mixed content).
The parser implements SAX1.
The code is reasonably small (~ 7Kb with a small test program and the
necessary SAX classes). however the main design constraint was to reduce the
amount of heap space consumed when processing a document.
I realise that this probably be of limited interest but I'd be very happy to
hear from anybody who is also interested in implementing XML on very small
systems.
