I tried this with IE 5.5 but I got The XML header of this file is <?xml
encoding="utf-8"?>.
so in my case it renders OK.
Even when I try it at home with IE 5.01 I get the same results as above.

Could it be that something on your system is outdated? (just a wild guess)
