During and after a conference, there's usually a mix of articles in the
media about announcements and presentations. Even if you're at the
conference, it's easy to miss something so I usually check for articles
after the fact. Following XML DevCon2000, there were several interesting
articles (list below).
The article about Bob Casarik's presentation is interesting because it
describes how Wells Fargo is repurposing legacy data. They are using XML and
a middle tier of integration servers to deliver information from disparate
legacy sources to a profiling and referral system. Also:
- They anticipated future requirements so they use privacy attributes in the
profiles
- They feel application servers have better transformation tools than
mainframes.
There is also a good article about David Orchard's presentation about XML
and HTTP messaging as the "Next Big Thing".
