I have avoided the whole issue by just referring to "those schema thingies".
Does schemas versus schemata really matter? After all, I hear in common use
both phenomena and phenomenons, memorandums and memoranda -- as long as it is
clear and unambiguous, and your usage is consistent, who cares?
