RE: [xml-dev] Any Good Reference Book on XML & XSLT

[ Lists Home | Date Index | Thread Index ]

Between my work as a writer and my work as an editor, I have too many
books to recommend.

My overall advice on XML books is pretty simple, though: go to a
bookstore and look through a few.

Even XML books with similar titles and tables of contents often appeal
to different audiences, and the document/data, Microsoft/not-Microsoft,
Web/Web Services divides often mean that a book which is great for one
person is awful for another person. Writing style matters as well.

Amazon reviews are helpful up to a point, but there are some serious
limits. Some of my favorite books have mostly 1- and 5-star reviews,
while others have very few reviews. Amazon's new "look inside" feature
can be helpful as well, if they're the right pages.
