RE: [xml-dev] SOAP-RPC and REST and security

[ Lists Home | Date Index | Thread Index ]

But isn't that implicitly what a public registry/search based
services system does? Or should one keep an RSVP
list and only invited guests get to come rifle the pantry?

Put up a site that says "Free Gold Here" and watch the
server hits go up. Put up a site that says "Work for
Food" and they don't go up quite as much.

Although, I find it surprising how the pendulum swings the other way,
and people start saying "security through promiscuity". You want to
know that the door and lock on your house have been peer-reviewed by
experts, tested to industry standards, and so on. But that doesn't mean
that you hold an open house every weekend so any stranger who wants can
stroll through your house and see where you keep the milk and cookies.
