Me :-) I prefer writing BER parsers to writing XML parsers, it's easier in my
opinion...

Likewise with XML; XML does not have any special parser-bug-resilience
properties. Likewise, one OS bug, runtime system bug, compiler bug, hardware
bug, library bug, application bug, ... can ruin your whole project.
