] ANN: XQX -- XML SQL to XML

[ Lists Home | Date Index | Thread Index ]

Hi,

ConnectTel is pleased to announce the release of XQX
Version 1.0-Beta.

XQX is a XML interface to relational databases. It
allows access to
Relational Databases using a XML interface.

XQX is an innovative product which enables enterprises
to make their
data accessible, in an easy and effective manner. With
the power of XQX,
enterprises can allow their business partners,
sales/field personnel, to
retrieve data and deliver that information to a
variety of end point
devices.

XQX retrieves data from a relational database and
transforms the result
into a XML format. The output XML data can then be
transformed once again
(with the power of XSL), as dictated by the end point
device ( web browser,
cell phone, PDA, or other wireless device)
requirements. This allows
appropriate display of data - to the user). The data
itself can also
remain
unchanged, and because it is raw XML, it can be -
delivered to any SOAP
aware
device to be handled directly on it.

- XQX has two modes of operation:

Remote: In this mode XQX operates as a web service
that provides a
SOAP/HTTP/XML interface to a variety of relational
databases.

Direct: Here XQX operates like a library ( DLL/SO )
that can be called to
access a variety of relational databases using COM/DLL
on Windows
or a shared library on Linux.

Relational Databases supported:

  + MS SQL Server
  + Oracle
  + DB2
  + InterBace
  + Sybase
  + Informix,
  + MySQL
  + PostgreSQL
  + ODBC ( windows + linux )
  + Centura (formerly Gupta) SQLBase

Platforms:

  + Windows
  + Linux

Some examples are available, including an ASP.NET
application that
that was originaly developed using SQLXML 3.0, and has
been updated
to replace SQLXML with the XQX access layer.

Examples using .NET, VB 6.0 and SOAP are available.
