I realize this is off-topic but I figured xml-dev might be able to help because of the high caliber of academic qualifications on list, and of course because of all the SVG folks around.
I’m looking for some general cs texts on calculating vectors, strategies, algorithms etc.
Computer Graphics by Foley, van Dam et al was suggested to me when I asked vaguely similar questions about 3 years ago. I suggest you check it out in a bookshop / library to see if it has the coverage that you want.
Another book of possible interest is Computer Graphics Handbook by Mortensen. It may be the wrong level for what you want.
If I was clearer about what you were interested in, I *might* be able to offer additional suggestions.
Also if anyone knows any really good articles on using javascript for such tasks that would be excellent. Thanks.
I don't know of any. So if anyone gives you off list some quality pointers I would appreciate you copying the URLs.
I believe that one of the SVG protagonists on this list was co-authoring an SVG and JavaScript book some time back. It isn't announced on Amazon, so that could mean it is delayed or that it has been cancelled.
If you don't get adequate replies on XML-Dev then I suggest you re-ask, possibly on SVG-Developers or on one of the comp.graphics newsgroups.
