Please believe that this remark is intended to be encouraging. (I
confess to being woefully ignorant of ASN.1 and X.694, but I need a good
reason to take the time to learn more.)
Many people would welcome the chance to put the "binary XML" issue
behind them. If you want to be an advocate for ASN.1, the best thing to
do would be to understand and respond to Simon St.Laurent's comment:

There are quite a few not-quite-XML contenders, some superior in some
dimensions. The "not-quite" part is the sticking point.
