An Australian patent attorney was awarded the 2001 Ig-Nobel prize in
Technology for receiving Australian patent 2001100012 for "A Circular
Transportation Facilitation Device."

Note: there is clearly a bunch of Australian Domestic politics, and a
deliberate attempt by said patent attorney to discredit a reform aimed
at reducing patent attorney income, involved. Still, it happened.
