Tim,
I second Ken's e-mail below regarding UBL, and provide additional
information: UBL is based on the UN/CEFACT ebXML Core Components data
modeling methodology - you'll see ubiquitous references within UBL to
entities such as Core Components, Business Information Entities (BIEs),
etc.
If you'd like more background on the Core Components methodology, here
are some presentations I gave last year on Core Components [1][2] (same
presentation, different formats). I'm leading the effort to "Core
Component enable" the OASIS/ebXML Registry architecture to inherently
recognize and handle Core Components and their associated entities.
