Thank Michael. I read that and appreciated it when
it was published.
From the X3D perspective, we had the requirements
for a binary for real-time 3D before we created
the new XML-encoding. VRML97 uses a format that
for text, is about as parsimonious as it gets.
It wasn't enough. So XML binarization is not
our motivator; XML just made the requirement more
necessary given its verbosity and problems with
data type support, but we need the binary with
or with out XML, and so, that is a task going
forward with some priority at the W3DC.
