I'll second this.
Larger events such as JavaOne, TechEd and OracleWorld pull in a broader audience
because they offer so many tracks and sessions. Smaller events tend to be more
focused.
Enterprise Data Forum, for example, attracted a veteran audience with a program
that included modeling, analytics, ontologies, metadata repositories, data
warehousing, messaging middleware, etc. The XML-related sessions focused on
metadata integration, schema design, SOA and web services. It was a great
program for data architects, system architects, designers and tech managers, but
there wasn't much content for people getting started in their career.
