First, let me say learning XSL will be useful for many things (not just 
transforming to HTML). It can be quite confusing to get started though. 
In other words don't expect to up and running too quickly.


You probably will want to get on the XSL list (extremely nice to newbies):

Read Michael Kay's XSL Programmers reference 2cnd edition. I would start 
with XSL version 1, rather than version 2 (at least until there is at 
least two well-working processors (currently there is only one - Saxon 8x))

There are plenty of tutorials out there (just google).
