   Podcasting question.

[ Lists Home | Date Index | Thread Index ]

Apologies, but this may seem a rather low-level question for this list. I have previously been mostly a happy lurker.

I have lately been looking into this phenomenon of the growing interest in podcasting (or whatever casting seems to be the preferred term).

I understand that basically podcasting is the ability to mix audio feeds via MP3s within RSS. Could anyone here please let me know anything similar to the following areas?:
1.Are there various methods to accomplish the mixture of the sound and XML, or more to the point, have there been any studies into the efficiency of the server/database used or the bandwidth consumed?
2.Would one platform be considered better than another (Apache/Linux, Mac, Win)?
3.Has anyone ever heard of a best practices relative to podcasting?
4.Would there be such a thing as an "industrial-strength" podcast server?

Any help would be very greatly appreciated.
Daniel Smith
