OASIS SYMPOSIUM 2006
THE MEANING OF INTEROPERABILITY
9-12 MAY 2006
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA USA
The OASIS Symposium is an annual event organized by the
Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS,
www.oasis-open.org). Everyone is invited (members and non-members) to join
OASIS in San Francisco to discuss the Meaning of Interoperability. This
event is where leading experts will be brought together to share their
understanding and experience on how to make e-Government and e-Business work
better.
CALL FOR PROPOSALS
OASIS invites proposals for presentations, panel sessions
and tutorials on topics related to one or more aspect of interoperability,
including but not limited to:
* The standards perspective
* The business perspective
* The semantic perspective
* The contractual perspective
* The infrastructure and product perspective
* The testing perspective
Full details on the different perspectives may be found at:
http://www.oasis-open.org/events/symposium_2006/call_for_participation.php
OASIS also invites tutorials on topics not necessarily
directly related to the Symposium theme.
Submit online proposals at:

CALL FOR SPONSORS
Several sponsorship opportunities are available at this
year's Symposium. OASIS relies on its event sponsorship to provide funding
necessary to maintain affordable meeting fees, ensuring the widest possible
level of participation. OASIS Event Sponsors also underwrite the cost of
OASIS Technical Committee meetings, allowing members to collaborate
face-to-face and Committees to interact with one another. We are offering
again this year - two types of sponsorship, including a Dual Event
Sponsorship and an Event Reception Sponsorship. Details including the
benefits for each sponsorship package may be found at:
http://www.oasis-open.org/events/symposium_2006/sponsorship.php.
If you are able to support OASIS as a Sponsor, please
contact Peter Roden - peter.roden@oasis-open.org or complete the online
OASIS Event Sponsorship Request Form -

OTHER EVENTS HAPPENING AT THE SYMPOSIUM
OASIS Technical Committee Meetings
OASIS Technical Committees are invited to hold face-to-face
meetings in conjunction with the OASIS Symposium. OASIS will provide rooms
at the hotel on 10, 11, and 12 of May for TC meetings. In order to assure
availability, TC Chairs must reserve their space as soon as possible using
the online meeting space reservation form found at:
http://www.oasis-open.org/events/symposium_2006/tc_meetings.php
OASIS Annual General Member Meeting (AGM)
The OASIS Annual General Member Meeting (AGM) will be held
at the Symposium. This once-a-year event provides a members-only opportunity
to review and respond to a state-of-the-union address presented by the OASIS
Board of Directors. The AGM will be followed by an evening reception
offering the perfect place to network with OASIS members, directors, and
staff.
OASIS TC Lightning Rounds
The OASIS Symposium will again feature an overview of the
TCs, by the TCs. It promises to be a great opportunity to learn what the TCs
are accomplishing, find out the status of related work, provide input,
identify areas for cross-TC communication, and build support. Each OASIS
Committee will be asked to designate one representative to deliver a
two-three minute presentation on its work. Slides will be compiled and
posted on the OASIS site following the event.
Symposium Book Table
There is a growing body of books that feature technical and
executive-level information on OASIS Standards and specifications. The
Symposium Book Table will showcase these books at a display in the
registration area. This is not a book sale, but an opportunity to give
attendees a first-hand look at the range of available titles. A handout
listing all books, including information on purchasing options, will be
provided. Books will be on display during the Symposium and raffled off to
attendees at the reception. Authors, publishers, or collectors interested
in donating books should contact events@oasis-open.org by 10 April 2006.
