Paul Downey: "... meaning neutral": in the sense
that no bytes change state, true. In the sense that
synapses change state, not true.
Again, if you have to sell SOA or web services to
the meatware, it is very useful to have such models.
So in the thread, "Will the Real SOA Standup", the
definition that had the most utility with the least
ambiguity is the third one.
The problem of the web, the blogs, etc., is the
self-obsessed nature of the geeks who code and
who actually believe the web revolution is driven
by them rather than driving them. All of the
decisions that determine the direction of the
evolution of the web are being made by people
who never write a line of code. I know the myth
is otherwise and it is a very useful myth, but it
is exactly that and no more.
