RE: [xml-dev] Semantic Web for the Masses, by the Masses

[ Lists Home | Date Index | Thread Index ]

Actually, no. I am involved in a large effort to
scope out technologies for a forward looking
customer just as the BARFO is being done.

Who consumes what we chat about here? RFP writers and system insultants,
ummm... consultants. If you want the driver to take you where
you want to go, tell him tales of what a great
place it will be to be there. "Too much, the Magic bus."

If we are to use the OASIS products referenced by
Joe et al, we have to rationalize them against what
is going on in the trenches. I think this is really
just a few technologies, but I might be surprised.
If I simply quote what Sowa talks about, I'll have
the right technologies but the wrong terms. No sale.

There are also topics on the TAG that will make
progress as we do our chorusing here. "What is
a namespace and why do we care?" for example.
I think the issue is bigger because of the relationships
among namespaces. If semantics are as important
as some think, shared state etc., then it is
logical to consider *semantic services*. Now a
a more complete description of a real Web 2.0
emerges, yes?

A real information ecosystem is many layers.
There is a substantial difference in the value
proposition for "Google" and "A Google for (Name
Operational Domain".

Somehow I suspect you didn't really want to hit on the permathread?
Fess up; pounding the eco metaphor was your real rational for
posting...
