You can write a transformation script (usually XSLT but any transformation
language will work) to convert the Excel XML to the target schema.
Vice-versa you can convert your XML to Excel XML Spreadsheet format using
XSLT. Both of these will require a knowledge of XSLT and the Excel XML
I have found the easiest way is to do an initial map of my information
into Excel, get the formatting the correct in Excel, then export the
Excel file to XML and use this file as a template for developing my
XSLT conversion. It works pretty well. There are some nuances to the
Excel format that aren't quickly apparent.
Hope this helps!
