RealObjects PDFreactor - Server-side PDF creation from XML and HTML made easy! CSS instead of XSL-FO
We are pleased to announce the first release of our new product, RealObjects PDFreactor. PDFreactor is a powerful formatting processor - written in 100% Java - for converting XML and XHTML/HTML documents into PDF. PDFreactor uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to define page layout and styles.
PDFreactor is a practical choice for software architects and developers looking for a cross-platform, easy to deploy, cost-effective XML and XHTML/HTML printing solution that does not require any XSL-FO skills to quickly achieve great looking results. It impresses through its extensive CSS 2.1 and 3 layout capabilities allowing flexible control over pagination and PDF output options. Vector graphics (SVG), Barcodes and XSLT are supported as well.
Fully integrated clean-up processes enable the processing of legacy HTML web content, allowing you to easily add server-based PDF generation functionality to your application or service.
Besides the Java API for easy integration with Servlets, EJB and Java Web Services PDFreactor also offers a command line interface for batch, script and CGI applications. All common J2EE application servers are supported and it is also easy to use from PHP.
The brand new server-side tool enables a great variety of applications in the fields of ERP, eCommerce, CMS and Electronic Publishing. It allows you to dynamically generate PDF documents such as press releases, invoices, delivery notes, shipping documents etc. on-the-fly. The integration into business and publishing workflows, multi-channel publishing using CSS (e.g. Web and Print) or the automatic generation of technical manuals, data sheets, reports and product information is also possible.
PDFreactor can also be used as a browser-independent "print this page" feature in websites or Content Management Systems. We demonstrate this on our website www.realobjects.com, just click on the red PDF button to get the current page as PDF.
Naturally, PDFreactor is a great companion to our editor solution edit-on Pro 4, as shown in the interactive online demo "PDFreactor featuring edit-on Pro 4".
