Hi Jonathan,
XMetaL is now owned by JustSystems, and they are still working on it. Last
I looked at www.xmetal.com, version 5.0 was still in Beta, to be released
sometime this month. We use version 4.6 here and find that it is good for
editing WYSIWYG documents, and the feature set has improved greatly since
3.1.

Subject: Re: [xml-dev] XML tools
For data integration, XQuery support, defining pipelines, writing
schemas, or debugging XSLT stylesheets, I really like Stylus Studio. I
do work for the company that produces this, fair disclosure, but I
really think this is the best XML tool for programmers working with XML.
For writing documents, I agree with the people who like <oXygen/>, which
I frequently use for writing articles and specifications.
If you need a WYSIWYG editing environment, I still like my old copy of
XMeTaL, though I have no idea who owns it at this point or whether
anybody is doing new work on it. <oXygen/> does not give me that nice
WYSIWYG feature. Anyone know what's up wiht XMeTaL these days? Are there
any new editors that do the same job better?
I have not used the Serna product someone mentioned. I'm downloading it
now ...
