you might find xquery-talk list (talk@x-query.com) better for these
kinds of questions xml-dev is more for hmm, not sure quite how to
describe xml-dev:-)

yes it has its own xquery implementation.

It may just be the use of the doc() function implying relative URI from
the query file to the xml files, which may not be correct in a database
situation.
