can i add node to node which is already having value

Hi Folks,
               I want to know can i add node to node which is already having value.
for example.
 <person>
               <name></name>
               <age >27</age>
  </person>
                 I want to add the following two nodes to age
    <min-age><max-age>
                         
                   Can you guys tell me how can i add these two nodes to age
