In current versions of Stylus Studio, placing the cursor over the character
in question shows its Unicode value in the lower-right corner of the display.
Also, if the character is not a valid XML character, upon loading the
document you will be prompted as to how that errant character should
be handled.

That would likely be a better place to ask a product-specific question
than xml-dev.
