Distributed objects have been tried and failed numerous times before
now. Sprinkling REST pixie dust on this bad idea won't magically make it
work this time.
Even more strongly, I've recently begun to suspect that the problem is a
little more fundamental than merely distributing objects. I'm beginning
to suspect that any form of object persistence is a fantasy. Objects
cannot be exported from their runtime environments; but that's a subject
for another thread and perhaps a different mailing list.
That being said, I'm not sure distributed objects is really what
Jelliffe's proposing, but he should probably avoid using object oriented
language to describe what he is doing, which at first glance seems quite
reasonable and commendable.
