OASIS Open CSA Member Section Steering Committee Nominations <Now Open> and Elections

OASIS members:

Four seats on the OASIS Open CSA Member Section Steering Committee [1] are
up for election in April/May. All Open CSA participants are invited to
nominate qualified candidates and/or serve on the Steering Committee. If you
aren't currently active in Open CSA, now is a great time to join.

The Open CSA Steering Committee provides guidance to help the Member Section
achieve its goal to advance open standards that simplify SOA application
development. The nomination and election procedures for the Steering
Committee is defined by the OASIS Member Section Policy [2] and the Open CSA
Member Section Rules of Procedure [3].

There are seven elected members on the Open CSA Steering Committee; each
serve two-year terms. The elections are staggered annually to assure
continuity of leadership. This year, the Member Section will elect three
Steering Committee members to full two-year terms and one member to serve
one year (completing the term of a retiring Steering Committee member). The
three candidates receiving the highest ranked votes will each serve two-year
terms. The candidate receiving the fourth highest ranked votes will serve
a one-year term.

Any Open CSA participant [4] may nominate or be nominated as a candidate for
the Steering Committee. (Any OASIS member may join the Open CSA MS at no
additional cost [5].)

Each Open CSA Supporting Entity has one Qualified Elector who casts the
single vote on behalf of his/her organization. Unless otherwise designated,
the organization's Primary Representative serves as the Qualified Elector.

NOMINATION & ELECTION SCHEDULE

Nominations will be open 14-April-2008 through 05-May-2008.

The election will be held 06-May-2008 through 20-May-2008.

The Open CSA Steering Committee has regularly scheduled teleconference
meetings on the second Friday of each month at 9AM Pacific, with occasional
extra meetings as needed.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Any Open CSA participant may nominate a candidate via email to:
nominations@oasis-open.org.

Prior to being confirmed as a candidate, each nominee must:

1. Accept the nomination;

2. Confirm his/her ability to meet the time commitments of the position
(participation in a two-hour teleconference each month, attendance at two
face-to-face meetings annually, additional support activities as needed);

3. Provide background information and a position statement describing
his/her
qualifications and motivations for serving on the Steering Committee; and

4. Be a participant in the Open CSA Member Section.

ELECTION PROCESS

The four new Steering Committee members will be selected by the Open CSA
Qualified Electors, using the Single Transferable Voting (STV) process -
Scottish Method [6]. STV considers each voter's ranked preference for
candidates, in order to more accurately reflect the wishes of the
electorate. Open CSA Qualified Electors will be sent detailed voting
instructions separately.

Results will be announced immediately after they are tabulated and
confirmed.

We encourage all Open CSA participants to consider serving on the Steering
Committee. Please contact member-services@oasis-open.org with any questions
you might have regarding this process.
