RE: [xml-dev] XML2.0: Truncated End Tags (Was: Fixing what's broke)

If you really value conciseness above all else there is always attributes

{ "element" : { "a1" : "value1" , "a2" : "value2" }  }

<element a1="value1" a2="value2"/>

This whole "JSON is more compact" theory is a red herring.

I really like the idea of using </> as an end tag. Comparing JSON Vs. XML
with truncated end tags you have:

"MyString":"A string",
<MyString>A string</>

For the string XML is one character shorter, and for the number XML is one
character longer. Allowing the parser to fill in missing end tag names
would allow something like:

    <MyString>A string</>

Maybe still not as pretty, but harder to knock it in terms of verbosity.
