would presume so.
Yes, nodes in an input document will be untyped unless the
XSLT/XQuery/XPath processor is schema-aware and the source document
is validated, and if the nodes are untyped then the typed value will
be the same as the string value.
(For schema awareness in Saxon you need Saxon-EE)
