While "XML for Applications" makes sense, the "XML-A" contracted form should be avoided, knowing that "XMLA" is already used and well known in the business intelligence and decision support systems area where it means "XML for Analysis".

Yes, there is at least some irony there, but you can check for yourself - see the attached. It does try to address a very broad scope - which could radically impact the Web Sphere.
