Re: [xml-dev] Same namespace for XSD and RDF

All,

Thanks a lot for the detailed -and occasionally unexpectedly poetic-
replies.

I guess we just write a short section in our specs how to handle the
namespace we define, but forfeit in defining a generic case how to
translate between the RDF and XML namespace.

At least is seems that RDF and XML use namespaces in a different way.
Just to verify, consider the statements:

<ns:element xmlns:ns="http://example.net/myschema/"; />
<ns:ent xmlns:ns="http://example.net/myschema/elem"; />

In XML these two are clearly distinct elements, while in RDF they both
map to the same URI "http://example.net/myschema/element";. I'll check
with the RDF zealots, err, affectionados, but if that's the case a
direct translation between the two is formally not possible (although in
practice things are probably OK)

Thanks for listening to my ramblings.

And thanks for the pointers to how OASIS handles RDF + OWL schemata.
Indeed, I was thinking about publishing a redirect or short HTML page
that redirect to the respective (XML or RDF) schemata.

Freek
