Software development is the art of extinguish a volcano by dropping buckets of water on it, that sometimes may not be water, but napalm, and sometimes a Undefined liquid.   Sometimes the volcano shutdown, and we attribute it to the buckets of undefined.

Negligence mixed with heroism  mixed with misunderstood enthusiast cargo culting. Total disregard for self survival. Bridged built on the beach of infinite seas, then abandoned, then re-purposed as home for homeless. Gnomes building gold made artifacts on the deeps of a cave.

The Joker obviously took the wrong profession, he should have taken software development. Batman commits on a secret git rep every night, and every morning the rep is nuked.
