I don't think Freax (a pun on "free" and "freaks" among other things) would have been nearly so successful, especially in the corporate world of 1991, if Ari Lemmke had not changed its name (behind the creator's back) to "Linux".  I also doubt that Robert Allen Zimmerman would have been nearly so successful in folk music and rock'n'roll as he became after changing his name to Bob Dylan.
