*represents* an integer.
How do we know that 44 represents an integer?
Because it has no decimal part, only a whole number.
It is a representation of an integer.
Ceci n'est pas une pipe.
A schema may declare the element content to be something else, such as a
string, in which case '44 would be a string, period.
